Department of CS

The Department of Computer Science of our College conducted a one day seminar entitled ‘Techniques of Data Mining” on 31.01.2020 in our College premises.  Mrs. K.K. Kavitha, Vice- Principal/HOD of Computer Science, Selvamm Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Namakkal was the resource person.     She explained the various data mining techniques like Tracking Patterns, Classification, Association, Outlier Detection, Clustering, Regression and Prediction.    Beside that she also explicated the data mining tools.

Elamathi, Assistant Professor in Computer Science introduced the chief guest.   The faculty members of Computer Science Mr. N.S. Senthilkumar, Mrs. S. Bhuvaneswari, Mrs. S. Usharani, Mrs. S. Priya, Mrs. K. Mekala, Mrs. M. Malathi, Mrs. A. Kavitha, Mrs. M. Ranjani, Mrs. D. Prabha and Mrs. V. Gayathri were present.

More than 200 students of Computer Science took part. 

In the interest of acquiring practical industrial exposure, our final year students of Computer Science and Computer Applications (III B.Sc., Computer Science, III BCA and II M.Sc., Computer Science) visited to Visveswaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Lal Baugh and Iskcon Temple in Bengaluru city on 13th July 2019.  48 students along with 5 faculty members of Computer Science (Mrs. S. Bhuvaneswari, Dr. N. Elamathi, Mrs. S. Usharani, Mrs. M. Malathi and Mrs. V. Gayathri) took part in this occasion.   

Our College (Trinity College for Women, Namakkal)  Departments of Computer Science and Computer Applications of our college have organized – 2 day events entitled “TECHNOWIZARD – 2K20” held on 9.3.2020 and 10.3.2020.   The various events such as Quiz, Dum Charades, Connection and Mime Show were hoisted by our students of BCA, B.Sc., Computer Science and M.Sc., Computer Science.

“Network and Cyber Security”

Our College departments of Computer Science, Computer Applications and SWAYAM jointly organized a one day webinar event entitled “Network and Cyber Security” on 11th January 2021 (Monday) @ 2.30 PM. Dr S. Shanmugam, Assistant Professor in Computer Science Engineering and Technology, Kongunadu College of Engineering and Technology (Autonomous), Namakkal to Trichy Main Road, Tholurpatti, Thottiam, Trichirappalli District was the resource person.    

A network is a collection or set of computing devices connected to one another to create and establish communication and also share available resources.  A network will comprise hardware and software devices. We can have a network even if we are not connected to the internet.   Computer Networks make it possible for people to transference files from one place to another and to communicate taking the shortest time possible, he stated.   Apart from that he explained the network operations of pure network applications and stand alone network applications.   In addition, she spoke on the topic of cyber security.   Cyber security is the practice of defending computers, servers, mobile devices, electronic system networks and data from malicious and fierce attacks.   It is known as IT security or Electronic Information securities. Cyber security is especially important on the internet and wireless networks such as WIFI – Bluetooth, he pointed out.  Good cyber security decreases the risk of cyber attacks.  It is the protection of internet connected systems including software, hardware, etc., he indicated. The faculty members of Computer Science Mrs. K. 5G/IOT Impact on Future Digital Landscape

Our College departments of Computer Science, Computer Applications and SWAYAM jointly organized a one day webinar event entitled “5G/IOT Impact on Future Digital Landscape” on 06th January 2021.   It was held through the Google Meet of Video Conferencing.   Dr. Anandhi,

Faculty, Dept. of Bank Technology, Pondicherry University, Kalapet,  Puducherry was the resource person.  The forthcoming launch of 5th generation of cellular mobile communication is great news for the markets of the internet of things.  The IOT is on rise, the number of connected devices is set to enhance from 700 million to 3.2 billion by 2023.  As per the reports, 5G will be 10 times speedily and fast that current Long Term Evolution Network, she elaborately elucidated.  Also she described the importance of 5G networks and also the internet of things – its impact on the landscape of hereafter.

“Computer Literacy Programme for Non-Teaching Staff Members of Trinity College for Women”

The Department of Computer Science in cooperation with Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Trinity College for Women (Arts and Science), Namakkal conducted a one day event entitled “Computer Literacy Programme for Non-Teaching Staff Members of Trinity College for Women” on 24th April 2021 in the laboratory of Computer Science.                 Mrs.M. Malathi, Assistant Professor in Computer Science of the College was the resource person and she inculcated the some computer related topics like basic knowledge of MS Office, MS Excel, Internet Technologies, Browsing of computer, Sending and receiving of emails, Downloading the files and other basic computer skills both orally and practically.  
 All the office staff members and lab assistants of various departments took part in that programme.   

“Personal Grooming and Employ-ability”

The PG Research Department of Computer Science in association with Placement Cell and Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal organized a one day webinar event in the title of “Personal Grooming and Employ-ability” on 03.06.2021.  This event was held through the platform of Google Meet. 

              Mrs. Chandini Bala, Director and Trainee,   M/s. Womea Bridal Studio Academy, 1/3, 2nd Floor, Kumaran Complex, Teppakulam Street, Near TMB Bank, Erode was the resource person.    Every employer will expect us to follow the workplace dress code for the work environment.  We need the dress code, personal grooming, self confidence, punctuality, time management, communication skills, self management skills, flexibility etc., at the time of an interview, she denoted.   Grooming is important for everyone but for women it is crucial.   Grooming for women includes a wide range of activities like making the hair, wearing clean beautiful clothes, putting on makeup and getting.    Grooming is the art of maintaining parts of the body like the face, hair, nails, skin and so on, she stressed.  

“Strategy for a Successful IT Career”

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Research Development & Innovation Cell (RDIC) in support of the PG & Research Department of Computer Science, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal  conducted a webinar event entitled “Strategy for a Successful IT Career” on 05th June 2021.   Mr. S Meyyappan, IT Consultant, Strategy and Advisor, RR Nagar, Bangalore was the special invitee.   Identifying our specialization in the IT field, developing excellent communication skills, having good research skills, continuous learning, updating subjects and job dedication are very important in the software industry, he denoted.  Apart from that he delivered the some motivational sub topics such as “know your IT world, How “you” can grow?, IT world as new norm, etc.,

The PG & Research Department of Computer Science in association with Internal Quality Assurance Cell & Research, Development Innovation Cell of Trinity College for Women (Arts and Science),  Namakkal organized an online event in the title of “Power of presence and Focus Mind” on 17th August 2021.   
 Mr. Sukumaran Vijayakanthan, Senior Big Data Technical Specialist, L & T Infotech Ltd., Block 4, DLF IT Park, SEZ Campus, 1/124, Shivaji Gardens, Manapakkam, Mount Poonamallee Road, Chennai was the invited speaker.  It was held through the platform of Google Meet.    
The presence of mind is nothing but the ability to take right decisions at the right time, he said.   In addition he gave an explanation of tips of presence of mind namely, maintaining & retrieving autobiographical information, referencing one’s self, developing a theory of mind, relating to one’s own and other’s emotions, more reasoning and establishing social evaluation and remembering the past and thinking about the future.

              “Web Development with Angular”

The PG Research Department of Computer Science in association with Internal Quality Assurance Cell and Research, Development and Innovation Cell, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal organized a webinar event in the heading of “Web Development with Angular” on 19th July 2021.   It was held through the video conferencing of Google Meet.Mrs. Banupriya Subramanian, Software Engineer, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, The United States of America was the resource person.  She explained the following various sub topics related to Web Development Angular

1.   Design and produce a simple web application using HTML, CSS, Typescript, JavaScript and Angular 8.

2.    Fundamental Angular 8 concepts such as One-Way opposed to Two-Way data binding, Services, Dependency Injection, Inversion of Control and Single Page Application Development. 

3.   Code and debug Angular using Microsoft Visual Code and Google Chrome

4.   Deploy and showcase of Angular 8 and Restful Web Services application on Amazon Web Service, on Tomcat 9. 

“Big Data Analytics”

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Research Development & Innovation Cell (RDIC) in association with PG and Research Department of Computer Science conducted a webinar event entitled “Big Data Analytics” on 11th June 2021.  Prof. A. Vijayalakshmi, HOD I/c, Department of Computer Science, DG Vaishnav College (Autonomous), Arumbakkam, Chennai was the resource person.   She neatly explained the various topics of Big Data Analytics like Analytics as a Service, Architectural Design for Big Data, Big Data Analytics for Governance, Clustering of Big Data, Data Fusion and Multi Model Analytics, Data Models for Big Data Analysis, Machine Learning Techniques for Big Data, Predictive Modelling, Topic Modelity, Streaming Data Analytics, Semantics of Big Data, Unstructured and Semi-structured Data Mining.  

“Fundamentals of Python Programming”

The PG and Research Department of Computer Science in association with IQAC & RDIC conducted a virtual programme entitled “Fundamentals of Python Programming” on 30th June 2021.   Dr. Rajasekar Rangasamy, Prof/Department of Computer Science Engineering (AL & ML), School of Engineering, Mallareddy University, Maisamaguda, Dualapalli, Hyderabad, Telangana state was the special invitee.   Python is a powerful programming language.  It is used by programmers for multiple purposes.  Right from web development to machine learning and data science python is the language used by programmers, he said.    He elaborated various fundamentals of python programming like flow control statements, functions and object oriented programming.  

Minority scholarship opportunities

Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, Minority student’s welfare organization organized a webinar event on 28th June 2021.   The title of the webinar – Minority scholarship opportunities for the students of Christians, Islams, Sikhs, Jains, Zoroastrians and Buddhist Religions.   Mrs. K. Mekala, Assistant Professor in Computer Science, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal was the resource person. This scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to eligible students so that they can complete their higher education.   Minority students of India who are studying in recognized colleges/universities/other higher educational institutions in India are suitable for getting minority scholarships from the Government of India, she said.   Self attested copy of previous academic mark sheets, copy of Aadhar card, Income certificate issued by the designated state/Union Territory, proof of bank account with Bank Name, Branch Name, Branch IFSC Code, Account Number of Account Holder, photo and other related documents are needed, she indicated. 

Connecting classroom to career & IT

Dr N. Elamathi, Assistant Professor & Head, PostGraduate Research Department of Computer Science has delivered an online lecture event on the topic of “Connecting classroom to career & IT” on 18.09.2021.  It was held through the platform of Google Meet. This event was organized by the department of Computer Science & Computer Applications, Jawaharlal Nehru College for Women, Ulundurpet, Kallakurichi District.

 The Internal Quality Assurance Cell and Institution’s Innovation Cell in support of the Postgraduate Research Department of Computer Science organized a one day workshop entitled “Website Designing” on 05th January 2022.  It was held in the premises of the Computer Science Laboratory of the College.   Mr. J. Prabusankar, Director – JPIX Designs, Belur Main Road, Poosaripatti, Neermullikuttai, Vazhapadi Taluk, Salem District was the invited speaker.   He explained the various importance of website development like coding of websites, along with front end design, technologies used for web development, including PHP, NET, JAVA, PYTHON, JAVA SCRIPT, Etc.,   More than  150 students got benefitted.

The PG Research Department of Computer Science, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal organized “A skill based elective courses – Google Workspace: An overview” on 9th November 2021.   It was held through the platform of Google Meet.  Dr. A. Sudha Ramkumar, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science (Shift 1), Sri Kanyaka Parameswari Arts and Science College for Women, Chennai was the resource person.  Changes are inevitable.   Now, Google is one of the search engines for the needs of new information.   The solution is that Google workspace is very important.   Everything we need to get anything done, now in one place.   Google workspace includes all of the productivity applications we know such as Gmail, calendar, drive, docs, sheets, slides, meet and many more.   Whether we are returning to the office, working from home, on the frontline with our mobile device, or connecting with customers.   It is the best way to create, communicate and collaborate, she pointed out.

Yogapriya, Alumni – Trinity College for Women – BCA – 2008-11 Batch, Associate Technologist, L2 Global Delivery Engineering Infosys, Bengaluru 560 002 was the special invitee.  Today, we are living in a computer age.  A lot of job opportunities available for computer Science students.   Especially, we choose a good career in the designation of network administrator, user experience designer, database administrator, full stack developer, system analyst, senior software engineer, cloud engineer, data scientist, analytics manager, development operations engineer, IT security specialists, director of information technology, mobile developer, hardware engineer, website developer, etc., she quoted.

Mrs. S. The Department of Computer Applications, Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women,  Sembiyan, Perambur, Chennai organized an online special lecture programme on 22.04.2022.   In this regard, Mrs. R. தமிழ்நாடு அரசின் கலை பண்பாட்டு துறை – சேலம் மண்டலமானது நாமக்கல் மாவட்ட அளவிலான கலைப் போட்டிகளான குரலிசை, பரத நாட்டியம். கிராமிய நடனம், கருவியிசை, ஓவியம் ஆகியவற்றினை 17.04.2022 அன்று நடத்தியது.   நாமக்கல் நகரம் – சேந்தமங்கலம் சாலையில் அமைந்துள்ள சக்தி மயில் கலையரங்கில் நடைபெற்ற இந்நிகழ்வில் நாமக்கல் – டிரினிடி மகளிர் கலை மற்றும் அறிவியல் கல்லூரியின் 3- ம்  ஆண்டு இளநிலை கணினி அறிவியல் பாடப்பிரிவு மாணவி செ. மௌதினி  மூன்றாம் இடம் பெற்று ரூபாய் 3500 – பரிசினை பெற்றுள்ளார்.   நாமக்கல் மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள பல்வேறு பகுதிகளில் இருந்து நூற்றுக்கு மேற்பட்ட மாணவ,  மாணவிகள் கலந்து கொண்டனர் .   இந்த நிகழ்வில் கலை பண்பாட்டுத்துறை இயக்குனர் சே. ரா. காந்தி வெற்றி பெற்றவர்களுக்கு  பாராட்டு தெரிவித்து பரிசுகள் வழங்கினார் .   இந்நிகழ்வில் சேலம் மண்டல கலை பண்பாட்டு மைய உதவி இயக்குனர் திரு. பா ஹேமநாதன், நாமக்கல் மாவட்ட ஜவகர் சிறுவர் மன்ற திட்ட அலுவலர் திரு. மா. தில்லை சிவகுமார், செய்தி மக்கள் தொடர்பு அலுவலர் திரு. சீ. சீனிவாசன் , மாவட்ட நாடக நடிகர் சங்கத் தலைவர் திரு ராஜா ஆகியோர் கலந்து கொண்டு வெற்றி பெற்றவர்களுக்கு வாழ்த்து தெரிவித்தனர் .   ஓவியப் போட்டியில் வெற்றி பெற்ற மாணவி செ. மௌதினியை கல்லூரித்  தலைவர், செயலாளர், முதல்வர், இயக்குனர் – உயர்கல்வி,  நிர்வாக அலுவலர்,  கணினி அறிவியல் துறைப் பேராசிரிய பெருமக்கள் மற்றும் கல்லூரி மாணவியர்  பாராட்டினர் .

CONNOISSEURS

The Department of Master of Computer Applications (MCA), M. Kumarasamy College of Engineering, Thalavapalayam, Karur organized an Inter-Collegiate Meet in the title of “CONNOISSEURS” ON 11.04.2022.   The various events like technodox, blind codest, techconnection, mimic, snapshot, skilluz, dead man’s chest, freaky funzz and reels held on that day.  In this regard, our 19 students of BCA, B.Sc., Computer Science & M.Sc., Computer Science actively took part.

Our students (Trinity College for Women, Namakkal) of B.Sc., Computer Science, BCA and M.Sc., Computer Science have looked in on the Industrial visit on 10.05.2022 in the premises of M/s. Integra Software Services (P) Ltd., 100 Feet Road, East Coast Road, Pakkamudiyanpet, Puducherry.    Industrial visit has its significance for College students.   It is at present considered as a part of curriculum activities for the growth of the students.   It gives students a chance to learn practically from theoretical knowledge through interaction, working methods and employment practices in large industries.   In this regard, our 105 students of Computer Science gained more knowledge about the firm of Integra Software Services (P) Ltd., Puducherry.  

                 The faculty members of Computer Science of our College Mrs. R. Navamani, Mrs. A. Vijayasarathi, Mrs. S. Priya, Mrs. K. Mekala, Dr. N. Vijayarani, Dr. K. Vijayakumari and Mrs. D. Prabha accompanied our students of Computer Science.   

                It is noted that apart from Industrial visit of M/s.  Integra Software Services (P) Ltd, Puducherry, our students and staff members of Computer Science looked around the various places in Puducherry such as Puducherry Museum, Paradise Beach, Rock Beach, Manakula Vinayagar Temple, Puducherry Secretariat and Pondi Marina Beach.
