National level workshop entitled “Consortium of Ism to Ism : A Revival of language and Literary Approaches with Recent Trends in English Language Teaching (ELT)” on 7th February 2020

The PG and Research Department of English of our College organized a one day national level workshop entitled “Consortium of Ism to Ism : A Revival of language and Literary Approaches with Recent Trends in English Language Teaching (ELT)” on 7th February 2020 in our College Trinity Auditorium.    

 Dr. B.J. Geetha, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Periyar University, Salem and Dr. Naveen Annamalai, Special Advisor, Kongu Nadu Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Gnanambikai Mills Post, Coimbatore were the resource persons. Dr. B.J. Geetha has explained the components of consortium of Ism to Ism: A revival of English language.   Dr. Naveen Annamalai focused the present day progression in English Language Teaching.  He further encouraged the students to upgrade their vocabulary, English Communication Skills and Writing Skills.   He exhilarate the students to study as many languages as possible.

o   The department of English, Kandaswami Kandar’s College, Velur, Namakkal District organized a one day national level workshop titled “The Romantics : Revisiting “The Renascene of Wonder” on 24th January 2020 in the College Auditorium.   Dr. R. ·         The Department of English, Periyar University, Salem organized a one day national level seminar entitled “Green Literature” on 31st January 2020 in the Periyar University campus.   Prof. Dr. P. Kolandaivel, Honourable Vice-Chancellor of Periyar University presided over the seminar.  Dr. K. Thangavel, Registrar, Dr. V. Sangeetha, Professor and Head, the faculty of English Dr. B.J. Geetha, Dr. K. Sindhu, Mrs. S. Snekha Sri and Dr. S. Boopathi, Periyar University spoke on that occasion.  

                   The various topics such as Green Literature in the Anthropocene, Eco poetics, Bio regionalism, Eco therapy in Literature, Eco feminism, Environmental Folklore, Eco psychology, Green Ecophilia, Green Travel Literature, Environmental & Food Literature, Environment & Religion, Green Indigenous & Nature, Nature in Juvenile Literature, Environment & Media, Nature & Magical Realism, Land & War, Environmental Ethics, Rhetoric on Bio centrism, Aquatic Literature, etc., were discussed in that seminar.    On this subject, our Student of M.A., English Ms. P. Abirami presented her research paper in that seminar.

Achievement of Ms. S. Aisha, record in bike racing

Ms. S. Aisha is a bonafide student of our College pursuing first year M.A., English degree course in our College during the academic year 2020-2021.  She is a bike racer.   In this regard, TVS Group of Companies conducted a “Bike Racer Championship” on 01.11.2020 at Chennai.   More than 100 participants participated in those events from various states of India.   She has completed Level one (Level 1) in the TVS Racing.  Under the organization of FMSCI (Federation of Motor Sports Club of India) that event was held.       Beside that on 13.12.2020, Motorcycle Stunt Show was held in Chennai city.   She took part.  She has performed very well in that bike stunt show. Tamil Nadu state level 21st Sub Junior Power Lifting Championship 2020

Tamil Nadu Power Lifting Association and Namakkal District Power Lifting Association jointly organize “Tamil Nadu state level 21st Sub Junior Power Lifting Championship 2020, 37th Junior State Power Lifting Championship 2020 and 47th Senior Power Lifting Championship 2020” held from 18.12.2020 to 20.12.2020 at the venue of GV Mahal, Tiruchengode Road, Pallipalayam, Namakkal District. 

          Thiru P. Thangamani, Honourable Minister of Electricity, Prohibition & Excise, Government of Tamil Nadu and the Member of Legislative Assembly of Kumarapalayam Constituency presided over the tournament. 

          More or less 1000 Power Lifting Players in and around Tamil Nadu state enthusiastically took part in that tournament.  In this regard, Ms. V. Menaka, I M.A., English of our College has obtained first place (gold medal) in the 84 plus category of Powerlifting game.

“Professional Communication in English”

The  department of English and Research, Development & Innovation Cell (RDIC) jointly organized a two day webinar programme entitled “Professional Communication in English” on 29th December 2020 (Tuesday) and 30th December 2020 (Wednesday) for the benefit of our students of English (Both B.A., & M.A.,).
Dr (Mrs) C.R. Sherly Winfred, Assistant Professor in English, Department of Humanities and Languages, Sona College of Technology, Salem was the invited speaker. Communication is an accomplishment which associates systematic and continuous processors of speaking, listening and understanding.   English is an essential for our international level business.  English communication skills are required for maintaining international relationships, she denoted.   English is a universal language.   This language is main, important, helpful, useful and friendly for each and every person in this today.    By learning English language, we can develop four important skills like listening, speaking, reading and writing, she focussed.

National Voters Day

As a function of Election Commission of India, various SVEEP (Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation Program) online Contest conducted by Tamil Nadu State Election Commission from October 2020 onwards.   Owing to National Voters Day – 2021 celebrations,  this online SVEEP contest like Slogan Writing, Singing, Poster and Poetry held in various districts of Tamil Nadu.  The main aim of conducting this competition has to enhance 100% enrollment and voting.    

In this regard, Ms. S. Poornima, Assistant Professor in English/NODAL Officer of our College has obtained first prize (Beside Rs. 10000 cash) in the competition of Poetry and second  prize (Additionally Rs. 7000 cash) in the competition of slogan Writing.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING AND ITS OVERVIEW

Our College department of English, SWAYAM and Research, Development and Innovative Cell (RDIC) jointly conducted a one day webinar programme entitled “ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING AND ITS OVERVIEW” ON 22nd January 2021 (Friday) at 11.30 AM through the video conferencing of Google Meet.  

       Dr K Sindhu, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, Periyar University, Periyar Palkalai Nagar, Salem was the invited speaker.   English is the universal language.  At present, there are around 380 million native English speakers in the world.   Millions more are acquiring English as a second or third language.   A great number of international businesses organize meetings in English.   Universities, Colleges, Matriculation Schools, Central Board of Secondary Education, Technology Institutions teach courses in English and, around the world, travelers and tourists use English as common English,  she highlighted. 

       Beside that she insisted that the students are speaking English with your friends and classmates.   Daily,  we read the reputed English newspapers like The Hindu, The Times of India, The New Indian Express, and so on for updating of English communication skills.

“Tamil-Tamilian – Elation conference” ( தமிழ் – தமிழர் – எழுச்சி மாநாடு)

The World Tamil Cultural Association (உலகத் தமிழ் பண்பாட்டு  சங்கம்)  has organized “Tamil-Tamilian – Elation conference” ( தமிழ் – தமிழர் – எழுச்சி மாநாடு) on 6th March 2021 in the venue of Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai.   More than 100 students in various places of Tamil Nadu participated.  In this regard, Ms. A. World Poetry Day Celebration @ Trinity College for Women, Namakkal

On Saturday 20th March 2021, our College faculty and students of the department of English excitedly celebrated World Poetry Day.

The World Poetry Day (21.03.2021- TRINI POESIA – 2021 )  was enthusiastically celebrated in our College campus on 20th March 2021 (Saturday) by the PG and Research Department of English, Trinity College for Women, (Arts and Science), Namakkal.Dr. S. Latha, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of English has invited all the participants.           .
           Mr. P.K. Sengodan, Chairman of the College presided over the event.   Er. K. Nallusamy, Secretary, Dr M.R.Lakshiminarayanan, Principal and Dr Arasuparameswaran, Director – Academic delivered their felicitation address.          
The Principal spoke on that occasion that this type of competition helps the students to project their talents.  The Director – Academic has highlighted the significance of celebrations of World Poetry Day.   Mrs. A. Revathi, Assistant Professor in English proposed the vote of thanks.

The World Tamil Cultural Association  (உலகத் தமிழ் பண்பாட்டுக் கழகம்) organized 51st online debate event in the title of “Today’s love – Show up in the eyes or come to an end in graveyard” (இன்றைய காதல் – கண்களில் தோன்றுவதே!  அல்லது கல்லறையில் முடிவதே!) on 11th April 2021 in the mode of Google Meet.   In this regard, Ms.A. “FDP – Teaching Model with multi approach”

The PG and Research Department of English conducted an online virtual event in the title of “FDP – Teaching Model with multi approach” on 29th June 2021.   Mr. Mohd Zuber, Assistant Professor of Special Education (Learning Disability), Department of TT & NEF (IASE), Jamia Millia Islamia (A Central University), New Delhi was the resource person.  Multi model learning in education is very important for our current generation students, he said.   Beside that he explained the various modes are channels of information such as Audio, Speech, Pictures, Illustrations, Music, Movement, Gestures, Colours, Facial Expressions, Writing pen images, etc., Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing are the important skills for each and every teachers, he insisted.

“Impact of literature towards cognition”

The PG & Research Department of English in association with RDIC, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal  organized a webinar event entitled “Impact of literature towards cognition” on 07th June 2021.   Mrs. I. Yasmine, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of English, Michael Job College of Arts and Science for Women, Sulur, Coimbatore District was the special invitee of that webinar.  Ameliorating and Improving the teaching and learning of English and the language arts at all levels of education.   It is very essential for all learners; she highlighted the importance of English.   In addition to she explicated the sub themes of literature like critical theory, creative writing, theory & pedagogy, rhetoric composition, linguistics, literature, literacy, reading theory, etc.,

      On this subject, the inauguration function was held on 01st July 2021 @ 9.30 AM.   Dr M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal of  Trinity College for Women (Arts and Science), Namakkal welcomed the gathering.   Mr. T.S. Sanjayan, Founder, Edugroom India Foundation, Kochi, Kerala introduced the chief guest.  Prof. Dr. R.K. Anayath,  H’ble” Vice-Chancellor, Bhagat Pool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Sonipet, Haryana state delivered his inaugural address.  The keynote address was given by Dr. Shafali Nagpal, Director – I/c, UGC-HRDC, Bhagat Pool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Sonipet, Haryana state, Er. On 14th July 2021, the valedictory function was held.   Prof. Dr. B.K. Kuthiala, Chairman, Haryana State Higher Educational Council,  Haryana was the chief guest.   Prof. R.K. Mastering the Art of Soft Skills

The PG and Research Department of English of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal conducted a webinar event in the title of “Mastering the Art of Soft Skills” on 28th June 2021.   Dr. V. Bhuvaneswari, Associate Professor in English, Law College, Dehradun, Uttarakhand state was the invited speaker.    
She highlighted some important soft skills for the benefit of youth like leadership, self motivation, responsibility, team work, problem solving, ability to work under pressure, time management, staff management, decisiveness, flexibility, negotiation and conflict resolution. 

தமிழ் விருதுகள் குவித்த டிரினிடி கல்லூரி மாணவிக்கு பாராட்டு  –

நாமக்கல் – டிரினிடி மகளிர் கலை மற்றும் அறிவியல் கல்லூரியின் மூன்றாம் ஆண்டு  இளநிலை ஆங்கிலம் பாடப்பிரிவு படித்து வரும் மாணவி ஏ கோகுலப்ரியா பல்வேறு தமிழ் தொடர்பான விருதுகள் பெற்றமைக்கு பாராட்டு விழா 20.09.2021 அன்று கல்லூரி வளாகத்தில் நடைபெற்றது .

” The Art of Literature

The Department of English, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal conducted a programme in the title of “The Art of Literature” on 30th November 2021.  It was held in the mini seminar hall.   Dr. S. Jayanthi, Assistant Professor in English, PSG College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Coimbatore was the special speaker.   She explained the various sub topics of art of literature such as fable, drama, autobiography, biography, poetry, prose, science fiction, journalism literature, etc.,   Dr M.R. The Post Graduate and Research Department of English, Trinity College for Women (Arts and Science), Namakkal organized a one day workshop entitled “The making use of digital media to improve teaching and learning English” on 17th March 2022.   It was held in the premises of a mini seminar hall.   Mr. S.J. Sureshkumar, S-Tech, 44, TSN Avenue, I Phase, Airport, Trichirappalli was the invited speaker.   Digital learning empowers our efficiency and productivity.   Especially, English communication lab is especially important for online learning for the sake of students.   It helps in learning the basic skills including the soft skills (LSRW) and English language.   It is one of the modern methods of multinational level pedagogy, he denoted.  Mr. S.J. Ramaraj, Assistant Professor in Tamil & Staff incharge for Drama Club, PSG College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Coimbatore was the special invitee.  He inaugurated the drama club.   He explained the various theatre for social change like adults with mental health issues, vulnerable women, homeless people, people with learning disabilities, refugees and immigrates, youth groups and LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) plus community, etc.,

(i) Establishment of English Communication Club & English Literacy Club:-

·         The Post Graduate and Research Department of English, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal inaugurated the English Communication Club and English Literary Club on 11.05.2022.   Mrs. V. Yogambal, Assistant Professor in English, Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science for Women, New Sidhapudur, Coimbatore was inaugurated the both the club of English Department.  She spoke on the topics of “Orators for Life and Life & Literature.   Orator skill is an art of public speaking particularly correctly, formally and eloquently.   It is so foremost that it assists in deciding factors in many things like career, development, business growth and even to help preserve good relationships between friends and family, she said.     Literature is the base of life.  The connection between literature and life is both important and essential.   Especially literature has a deep and direct link with human life and its realities, she denoted.  

(ii) Inception of Media Club:- 

·         The Post Graduate and Research Department of   English, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal established the Media Club on 12.05.2022.   Mr. G Vijayakumar, District Correspondent, All India Radio & Doordarshan, Salem was the resource person and he talked about the topic of “Media, Women and Challenges”.   Media, it is printed paper to digital data, and encloses art, news, educational content and numerous other forms of information.   Media is a part of our lives, he indicated.   Besides, he explained women’s role for our healthy society and their challenges in day to day life.   

(iii) Formation of Journalism Club:- 

The inauguration function of Journalism Club was held on 12.05.2022 in the mini seminar hall of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal.   Mr. V Senthilkumaran, Special Correspondent, The Times of India, Salem was the chief guest and he spoke on the topic of “A curtain Raiser Programme on Journalism and Mass Communication”.     Journalism is fact based reporting of current events. Journalists report through Television, Radio, Newspapers, Magazine, Social Medias and the Internet.  Journalism requires research thoroughness and the ability to write unmistakably, clearly and succinctly, he designated.

Mr. A. Athiyappan, Assistant Professor in English, Thiruvalluvar Government Arts College, Rasipuram, Namakkal district inaugurated the Creative Art Club on 20.05.2022

Mr. A. Athiyappan, Assistant Professor in English, Thiruvalluvar Government Arts College, Rasipuram, Namakkal district inaugurated the Creative Art Club on 20.05.2022.   Apart from that, he spoke on the topic of “Preamble on creative writing”.     He elaborated the illustrations of some creating writing in the areas of novel writing, plays, memoirs, poetry, short stories, flash fiction, song lyrics, television and film scripts.           Dr M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal of the College welcomed the gathering.  Mr. P.K. Sengodan, Chairman of the College, presided over the programme. Er. K. Nallusamy, Secretary of the College spoke about the importance of English creative writing.  Dr.Arasuparameswaran, Director – Academic offered his felicitation address.  

        This programme was arranged by the faculty members of English Dr. K.S. Dhivya, Mrs. G. Kannagi, Ms. S. Poornima, Mrs. A. Revathi, Mrs. L. Deepika, Mrs. R. Banupriya, Mrs. P. Umabharathi, Mrs. S. Bharathi, Mrs. S. Malarkodi, Mrs. S. Sreevidhya. Mrs. R. Priyadharshini and Mr. N.S.Senthilkumar, Administrative Officer.   More than 250 students of English both B.A., English and M.A., English took part.

This programme was organized by the department of English & Institution’s Innovation Cell of Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science for Women, New Sidhapudur, Coimbatore.

Dr K. S. Dhivya, Assistant Professor and HoD of PG English, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal  delivered on the topic of “Become an inclusive leader” on 24.05.2022.  This programme was organized by the department of English & Institution’s Innovation Cell of Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science for Women,  New Sidhapudur, Coimbatore.   She is greeted by the Chairman, Secretary, Principal, Director – Academic, Administrative Officer and the faculty members of English of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal.  

M/s. Shakespeare Publications, Coimbatore conducted a state level competition in the heading of “Shakespeare Creative Writing competitions” during the academic year 2021-2022. In this regard, more than 17 students of B.A. English took part in that competition.

English Language Laboratory Software is a class room based solution which is installed on the computer in the classroom and the content can be accessible in the respective class room system.   The English Language is one of the fastest communication methods and it is connecting with people across the world. Our College has a modern English Communication Laboratory for the benefit of our students.

IV – Kanniyakumari district English department 15.6.22

One Day trip

***60 Students of English (Both Undergraduate & Postgraduate) along with 3 faculty members have carried out a one day trip (Kanyakumari District) in the places of Thirparappu Falls, Aruvikkarai, Mathur Thottipalam, Temples of Anjaneyar & Thanumalayan in Suchindram and Vivekanandar Rock, Valluvar Statue and Beach in Kanyakumari on 15th June 2022.    The faculty Members of English Mrs. P. Umabharathi, Mrs. R. Banupriya and Mrs. R. Priyadharshini were the caretakers.
