 Program on “Consumer Protection & Road Safety”

On behalf of the Citizen Consumer Club and the Road Safety Club, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, organized an on-road protection awareness program entitled “Safeguarding consumers and the necessity of road safety” on June 17, 2026, on the college campus.

Dr. M.R. Lakshminarayanan, Principal of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, was the resource person. The right to safety is one of the most important fundamental consumer rights. Road users are consumers, as they use public transportation, private vehicles, passenger taxis, and bicycles, as well as additional safety equipment, he stated.     He also stressed the importance of speed management on roads, the mandatory wearing of helmets while riding two-wheelers, the compulsion of wearing seatbelts for car drivers, avoiding drunk driving, properly maintaining the vehicles, keeping up the normal speed, and so on.

The session focused on the importance of traffic rules, common road safety truths and myths, and responsible behavior on roads.   All the students, as well as the faculty members, took part in that program.  Dr. S.
