Students of English at our college participated in the online event of the National Conference on “The New Indian Voices: Interrogating Tradition, Embracing Contemporary in Indian Literature in English ” — organized by Chevalier T Thomas Elizabeth College for Women, Perambur, Chennai, held on 08.01.2026.

31 students of the Department of English actively participated in the National Conference entitled “The New Indian Voices: Interrogating Tradition, Embracing Contemporaneity In Indian Literature in English ” organized by Chevalier T Thomas Elizabeth College for Women held on 08.01.2025 through the virtual platform.

The seminar started around 9.00 am. The resource person for the first session was Dr Manju Jaidka, Former Chairperson and Professor of English, Panjab University, Chandigarh, India. She highlighted the themes present in Indian literature and how the authors have explored their ideas of society in their works. The resource person for the second session was Dr. C. T. Indra, Former Professor & Head of the English Department, University of Madras, Author and Translator. She emphasized the emerging of new Indian voices in literature.

The resource person for the third session was Dr. Thamizhachi Thangapandian, Member of Parliament, Chennai South Constituency, Author and Poet. She stressed Embracing Contemporary in Indian Literature. The resource persons for the fourth session were  Dr. Adenuo Shirat Luikham, poet, educator and illustrator, and Dr. Saranya J, Assistant Professor of English Ethiraj College for Women (Autonomous), Chennai.

The session enhanced our knowledge of Indian literature and Indian literary works. Slots were allotted for all the paper presenters at 12.00 pm. The students were divided into groups. Each group had a chairperson for evaluating the paper presentations. This seminar gave us enormous knowledge of the concepts of Myth, culture and Tales in Indian English literature. The seminar ended with a feedback session and a vote of thanks.

31 students of English, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal actively participated in that virtual mode.
