The Government of India has taken many steps to promote the status of women by implementing various schemes, including higher free education for girl students. With the intention of promoting girls’ postgraduate degrees, the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, has introduced the postgraduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Children with the objective of compensating the direct costs of girl education at all levels. Especially, it should be the only girl child in their family. For the past 5 years, many students have benefited from this scholarship.
