The SAI (Sports Authority of India), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, ASMITA (Achieving Sports Milestones by Inspiring Women through Action). IWLF (Indian Weightlifting Federation) and Khelo India jointly conducted the “ASMITA” weightlifting league, held at Kulithalai, Karur district on 03.08.2025.
Mr. R. Manickam, Member of the Legislative Assembly, Kulithalai constituency was the chief guest. Ms. S. Shanmugapriya, EC Member, Tamil Nadu State Weightlifting Association welcomed the gathering.
Mr. S. Shanmugavel, CEO, Tamil Nadu State Weightlifting Association, Mr. V. Pallavi Raja, DMK State Traders Team Deputy Secretary, Mr. S. Gunasekar, Mr. K. Vedanarayanan, Mr. N. Anandha Gopalakrishnan, Mrs. G. Jayapandi, Inspector of Police, All Women’s Police Station, Kulithalai, Mrs. M. Ramya, BJP Zonal President, Kulithalai were the special invitees.
Mr. A.Subramanyam, Joint Secretary, Tamil Nadu State Weightlifting Association, proposed the vote of thanks.
In this regard, 6 students of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal have actively participated. Ms. S. Bavadharani, second year B.A., Tamil, got first place in the overall weight of 127 Kg, and she is also to take part in the National Level Weightlifting Tournament.
