Event on “Role of Forests in Human Welfare and Mission Life”:

Vivekanandha College of Arts and Sciences for Women, Elayampalayam, Tiruchengode, Namakkal District, organised a four-day programme entitled “Training of other stakeholders for the financial year 2023-2024” on October 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th, 2023. This event was sponsored and supported by the “Research and Training Division, Government of India, Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, New Delhi, organised by DST-FST, PG-Research Department of Botany of the College.

Prof. Dr. M. Karunanithi, Chairman and Secretary, Vivekanandha Educational Institutions & Hospitals,  Tiruchengode and Sankari presided over the programme. Dr. P. Baby Shakila, principal of the college, offered her inaugural address. Dr. K.E. Poorani, Head, Department of Botany, Biochemistry, and Zoology; Dr. M. Senthilkumar, Training Coordinator, Faculty of Botany, Vivekanandha College of Arts and Sciences for Women; Mr. C.R. Rajesh Kanna, District Liaison Officer, Green Mission, Namakkal; and other dignitaries spoke on that occasion.

The various titles, like biological diversity of Indian forests, important plant wealth of India, conservation of biological diversity, climate change and forests, human-animal conflict, and an overview of forest types in India, were talked about by the special invitees. On behalf of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, Mrs. V. Indirakumari, Assistant Professor in Chemistry and Coordinator of the Eco Green Club, took part.
