Birth anniversary celebrations of Periyar (17.09.2022)
On account of 144th birth anniversary (17th September) of Thanthai Periyar, Periyar University, Salem and Trinity College for Women, Namakkal jointly organized a programme in the title of “Periyarai Vaasippom” – பெரியாரை வாசிப்போம்” (Let’s study Periyar) on 14th September 2022.
Dr. M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal presided over the programme. Periyar dedicated his life in promoting the downtrodden people. He led several movements in his lifetime for the betterment of society through social justice, he said.
Dr. Arasuparameswaran, Director – Academic highlighted the Periyar’s role in the subjects of gender equality, women education, women employment, widow remarriage, need for change in life style of women, etc.,
Dr. M. Selvi, Librarian, Mrs. S. Jayamathi, Assistant Professor in Tamil/NSS Programme Officer – Unit 2, Mrs. A.P. Pavithra, Assistant Professor in Costume Design and Fashion and Ms. P. Sathiya, Assistant Librarian made arrangements.
More than 1400 students and faculty members took part.
