Programme on “Environmental Humanities”

          The Department of English, in support of the Institution’s Innovation Council at Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, organized a programme titled “Environmental Humanities – Reading Literature in an Age of Environmental Crisis” on 21st August 2026. Dr. S. Mahalakshmi, Assistant Professor of English at Chikkanna Government Arts College, Veerappan Chathram, Erode, was the resource person. She unraveled the profound connection between literature and life, weaving in examples from timeless masterpieces of English literature. She also elucidated various subjects such as ecological humanities, environmental ethics, sustainability studies, Indigenous epistemologies, ecological pedagogy, and the contemporary ecological crisis.

           Dr. M.R. Lakshiminarayanan presided over the programme. Dr. R. Navamani, Vice-Principal, offered the felicitation address. Mrs. S. Priya, Assistant Professor of Computer Science, and the faculty of English, Mrs. G. Kannagi, Mrs. L. Deepika, Mrs. S. Malarkodi, Mrs. S. Kavya, Ms. M.V. Mekavarshini, Mrs. S. Aruna, and Mrs. S. Abinaya, along with the students of English (both Undergraduate and Postgraduate) took part.
