Programme on “Mathematics for Competitive Examinations”
The Department of Mathematics, in association with the Quiz Club, Placement Cell, Naan Mudhalvan, Institution’s Innovation Council & Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, conducted a programme titled “Importance of Mathematics in Competitive Examinations” on 13.02.2026 in the College premises.
Mr. P. Boopathy, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, Rathnavel Subramaniam College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Sulur, Coimbatore was the resource person. Whatever our major, science or engineering, Mathematics is common for students. The significance is quite huge. Mathematics is very important for appearing in competitive examinations, like Civil Services, Union Public Service Commission, Banking Services Recruitment Board, Tamil Nadu Public Service Examination and so on. Analytical Skills, Problem-Solving, Quantitative Reasoning, Numerical Skills and Time Management are needed for answering the Mathematics-related questions, he said. Also, he gave some informative examples of how to solve mathematical problems in competitive examinations.
Dr. M. R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal, Dr. M. Sasikala, HOD of Commerce, Mrs. V. Gokila, Assistant Professor in Mathematics, along with the students of Mathematics, Computer Science and Commerce took part in that programme.
