nternational Conference on “Physics”
The Department of Physics, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, conducted a one-day international workshop titled “Future Trends in Renewable Energy Materials” on 06th January 2026 in the College.
Dr. M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal, presided over the programme. Dr. B. Lakshmi, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Physics, welcomed the gathering. The chief guests as well as the resource persons were introduced by Mrs. B. Kavitha & Dr. R. Sakunthaladevi, Faculty of Physics of the College.
Prof. Nithya Dharseni Palayaniyandi, Associate Professor, Institute for Catalysis and Energy Solutions, College of Science, Engineering & Technology (CSET), University of South Africa, Florida Science Campus, Johennesburg, South Africa was the chief guest and she delivered the brief lecture titled ““Advanced Electrode Materials for Secondary – ION Batteries, Super Capacitors & Recycling Battery Materials”.
Advanced electrode materials for secondary ion batteries & supercapacitor exposures for increasing energy density, power output, and cycle life. For the time being, innovative techniques for recycling battery materials are aimed at resource conservation and sustainability through efficient and systematic material recovery processes, you rightly pointed out. Also, she elaborately explained the usage of conductor materials, semiconductor materials, isolating materials and magnet materials.
The resource persons, Dr. R. Nirmalkumar, Assistant Professor in Physics, Srimad Andavan Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli delivered the lecture titled “Role of Super Capacitor and Its Impact in the Modern World”.
Dr. R. Poonguzhali, Faculty of Physics, Government Arts and Science College, Peravurani, Thanjavur District, gave a brief presentation of topic entitled “Advanced Materials for Renewable Energy Technologies” and
Dr. Shanmugam Marimuthu, Associate Professor, Department of Science and Humanities, Sri Shanmugha College of Engineering and Technology (Autonomous), Sankari, Salem District, presented a topic titled “Green Manufacturing for Sustainable Development Waste to Wealth”.
The changing climate/weather and energy needs are the vital challenges we face this day. We need to encourage clean and efficient technologies, harness renewable energy sources and to take on better waste management technologies, etc., with the aim of overcoming these problems, and identify alternatives to the non-renewable energy sources. Eco-friendly is important and it does not pollute the environment, the resource persons emphasised.
The faculty members of Physics, Mrs. V. Kalaivani, Dr. S. Sandhiya and Mrs. P. Gowthami along with many students of Physical Sciences in various places took part.
