The Department of Social Welfare & Women Rights, Namakkal District and Trinity Women’s Forum & Youth Red Cross of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal jointly conducted a one day awareness programme entitled “World Day against Trafficking”

The Department of Social Welfare & Women Rights, Namakkal District and Trinity Women’s Forum & Youth Red Cross of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal jointly conducted a one day awareness programme entitled “World Day against Trafficking” (மனித கடத்தலுக்கு எதிரான சர்வதேச விழிப்புணர்வு தின பயிலரங்கம்) on 10th August 2022.   Because of World Day against Human Trafficking (30.7.2022), this event was held.

Mrs. P.K. Geetha, District Social Welfare Officer, Namakkal, Mr. N. Maheswaran, Additional Director (READ – Rights Education and Development Centre), Erode were the special invitees.

 Human trafficking is the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring of people through force, fraud, for the purpose of exploiting them for profit.   Sexual exploitation, forced labour, criminal activity, begging forced marriages, removal of organs, and mixed forms are the reasons of human trafficking.    On a global level, there are roughly 6.5 missing persons for every 100000 people, they said.

Dr. M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal welcomed the gathering.

Barathi & Dr. N. Santhi took part in that occasion.

More than 250 students attended that programme.
