STEM awareness programme for school students
The Institution’s Innovation Council, Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Entrepreneurship Development Cell, in favor of the department of Mathematics and Chemistry, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, conducted an innovation & design thinking (For school students) with the subject matter of “Tinkering Labs and School Innovation Council (SIC)” – School students awareness programme on “Innovation skills – Wrap one’s mind around of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics” on 14th February 2025. It was held in the premises of Trinity Academy Matric Higher Secondary School, Trinity Nagar, Mohanur Road, Namakkal.
Dr. B. Lena, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Mathematics & President of the Institution’s Innovation Council & Dr. N. Thangamani, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Chemistry & Vice-President of the Institution’s Innovation Council, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal were the resource persons.
The ‘National Policy for encouraging Innovations in Schools’ has been developed with the combined effort of a huge number of experts and stakeholders in the school education sector. Under the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Minister of Education, ‘National Policy for Promoting Innovations in Schools’ has been developed. The NEP (New Education Policy- 2020) raises a new teaching-learning methodology that employs innovative tools and technology applications & innovations to make the education experiential, holistic, integrated, centre of learning, inquiry driven, discovery-oriented, discussion-based, and flexible. The innovations in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) are needed for our current society. As students of schools, you have to bring out the hidden talents of science and technology inventions, they denoted.
Mr. S. Somasundaram, Principal & Mr.R. Ramesh, Vice-Principal, Trinity Academy Matric Higher Secondary School, Namakkal, spoke on that occasion. They highlighted the need for science and innovation for our nation’s growth, especially for our country’s dream of VIKSIT BHARAT 2047. More than 250 students benefited through that programme.
