The Postgraduate and Research Department of Commerce, in support of the Quiz Club and Institution’s Innovation Council, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal organized a panel discussion programme titled “Union Budget (2026) – An Overview” on 09th February 2026 in the college premises.

Dr. M. Sasikala, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Commerce of the College was the moderator. She highlighted that the Union Budget is not merely a financial statement, but a regulation of the Government’s vision for economic growth, social welfare, industrial development, fiscal stability, etc. Also, she highlighted women’s empowerment, like the schemes of SHE (Self-Help Entrepreneurs) Mart and the establishment of women/girls hostels in every district all over India.

Dr. G. Sathiya Sangari, Assistant Professor of Commerce & Coordinator – Quiz Club, in her speech, brought out the introduction, benefits for the departments of education, health, agriculture, finance and the pros and cons of the budget.

Ms. P. Sowmiya, third year B.Com., student of the College, shared her valuable insights on budget provisions, including corporate governance, taxation, viksit bharat @ 2047 (Developed India) and Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self Reliance India).

Dr. A. Latha, Coordinator – Quiz Club, The faculty members of the Commerce Department, Dr. S. Devi, Dr. M. Umamageswari, Mrs. M. Rajapadmavathi, Mrs. A. Rajeswari, Ms. P. Madhupriya, Ms. P. Dhanushiya along with the students of Commerce (B.Com, B.Com., Computer Applications and M.Com.) took part in that programme.
