Demonstration Programme on “Solid Waste Management”
The UBA Cell (Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell) of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal organized a demonstration programme entitled “Composting in solid waste management strategies” on 23rd March 2023.
It was held in the premises of Trinity College for Women in Vagurampatti village, Namakkal District.
Mr. M. Thillai Sivakumar, Secretary – Pasumai Namakkal & Director – Rathina Sabapathi Environmental Rural Development Organization, Namakkal was the special invitee. He said a lot of job opportunities are available in the fields of waste collection, waste handling, waste storage, waste transport, waste transformation and energy recovery from waste. Because of composting we can save money, be good for the soil, reduce garden pests, improve soil structure, get physical activities, recycle home waste, good for environment and water conservation, he indicated the significance of a compost pit for solid waste management.
Also, he highlighted the entrepreneurship opportunities through the waste management scheme.
Mrs. Aruna Selvaraj, Executive Director, Dr. Arasuparameswaran, Director – Academic, Mrs. S. Hemalatha, Coordinator – UBA and the representatives of UBA adopted villages Mr. R. Navamani (Pettapalayam), Mrs. S. Priya (Aniyapuram), Mrs. V. Gokila (Vagurampatti), Dr. A. Latha (Parali) and Mrs. D. Prabha (Tholur) also took part.
