Observation of National Handloom Day
The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell (C9496), Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, celebrated “National Handloom Day” on 07th August 2025 on the College campus. Dr. M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal of the College, presided over the programme.
Due to upliftment and enhancement of the standard of living of handloom weavers who belong to Thuraiyur, Woraiyur, Ulkottai, Murugur, Eragudi, Pachaperumalpatti, Mettupalayam, Kannanoor, Thathiengarpettai, Paithamparai, Manalmedu, Mahendramangalam, Musiri, etc., in Tiruchirappalli and Ariyalur District, this programme was held.
Mr. S. Sivakumar, Director, Revathy Tex, Murugur, Thuraiyur Taluk, Trichy District, and his team members sold handloom sarees, including handloom products, like bedsheets, towels, pillow covers, wall hangings, placemats, etc.,
Apart from the faculty members, non-teaching staff members and students of Trinity College for Women, the public from Vagurampatti village (one of the UBA Networking villages of the Institution) have eagerly purchased these handloom products at a reasonable price.
Mrs. V. Archana, Physical Director and Mrs. S. Hemalatha, Coordinator of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell of the College, made arrangements.
