One-Day National Level Workshop organised by the Department of English at Trinity College for Women-Namakkal
Trinity College for Women-Namakkal, The Post Graduate Department of English, organised a one-day national-level workshop entitled “Tactics to Ameliorate NET/SET/JRF and Language Proficiency” on July 28, 2023, at Trinity Auditorium.
This national-level workshop was presided over by the Executive Director, Mrs. Aruna Selvaraj.
The Principal, Dr. M. R. Lakshminarayanan, and Dr. Arasuparameswaran, Director, Academic, offered the felicitation address.
The Chief Guest of the Forenoon Session was Dr. L. Suresh, Assistant Professor in English, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Periyanaickenpalayam, Coimbatore, who talked about NET and SET exams and their importance. He mentions that NET and SET exams are important for teaching in Higher Educational Institutions. He also talks about the eligibility for applying for NET and SET exams; he points out that students who did their post-graduation and are doing their Post-Graduation can apply for the Examination. He asks the students to follow along and study the subject in depth. The eligibility exams are all computer-based, so he advised them to work on that. He finally mentions that, in order to clear NET and SET, we need constant practice and hard work.
The afternoon session’s Chief Guest was Dr. P. Irrunko Velmall, Principal and Wellness Counsellor of Sengunthar Public School, Tharamangalam, Salem District. In her speech, she mentions that we must learn English as a language. It is an art. To develop our knowledge of the English language, we have to follow the four skills of English like Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. She advised the students to develop the habit of reading English newspapers daily and finding out the meaning of the words with the help of a dictionary.
