Celebration of International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day was enthusiastically celebrated at Trinity College for Women, Namakkal on 08th March 2023 in Trinity Auditorium.
In this regard, an event on “Women’s day celebration seminar with Road Safety” was held in the College campus.
This programme was organized by the Trinity Women’s Forum of the College, Regional Transport Office, Namakkal South, Rotary Club- Namakkal, Inner Wheel Club- Namakkal and Indian Medical Association – Women Empowerment Committee (Empower the Women).
Mr. P.K. Sengodan, Chairman of the College inaugurated the programme. Er. K. Nallusamy, Secretary of the College presided over the programme. Dr. M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal delivered the welcome address. Mrs. Aruna Selvaraj, Executive Director of the College, Dr. Mallika Kulandaivel, Thangam Hospitals & Cancer Centre, Namakkal & Mr. R. Viswanathan, President, Rotary Club, Namakkal offered their felicitation address. The Chief Guests were introduced by Dr. Arasuparameswaran, Director – Academic of the College.
Mr. A.K. Murugan, Regional Transport Officer, Namakkal South and Mrs. M. Umamaheswarai, Motor Vehicle Inspector, Namakkal South were the special invitees. The chief guests, in their address acknowledged the achievements and efforts of the women of the society and pointed out that mere equality does not matter, power must be given with the addition of equality to build a strong nation.
Mr. D. Sidhardhan, Director – Transport, Trinity Academy Educational Institutions, Namakkal & Mrs. V. Nirmala, President, Inner Wheel Club, Namakkal also attended that programme.
Apart from that, a debate was held in the heading of “Who is facing more challenges in family life? Men or Women” (குடும்ப வாழ்வில் சவால்களை அதிகம் எதிர்கொள்வது ஆண்களா ! பெண்களா !)
Dr. T.K. Anuradha, Assistant Professor, Department of Postgraduate Tamil, Trinity College for Women was the debate judge.
Dr. M. Sasikala, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Commerce, Mrs. S. Jayamathi & Dr. B. Vishnupriya, Assistant Professors of Tamil spoke in the favour of men.
Mrs. R. Navamani, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Computer Science & BCA, Dr. A. Latha, Assistant Professor in Tamil and Dr. R.Sakunthaladevi, Assistant Professor in Physics delivered on the side of women.
Finally, the judge declared “Women are facing more challenges in family life”.
In addition, faculty members and students’ fashion shows were held as a part of international women’s day celebrations.
The faculty of Costume Design & Fashion Mrs. K. Punitha, Ms. K.P. Theepika, Mrs. B. Kavitha, Mrs. A.P. Pavithra, the faculty of Mathematics Mrs. P. Nandhini, Mrs. A. Thenmozhi, Ms. P. Srirenugadevi, Assistant Professor in Nutrition & Dietetics and Mrs. V. Gayathri, Faculty of Computer Science also took part in that fashion show along with students of our College.
More than 1200 students and faculty participated in the International Women’s Day Celebrations.
