Celebration of National Chemistry Week

On account of National Chemistry Week (October 15–October 21, 2023) as well as Youth Awakening Day (the birth anniversary of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India), the department of Chemistry at Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, organised a one-day event titled “Role of Chemistry in Everyday Life” on October 16, 2023, on the college campus. Mrs. Aruna Selvaraj, Executive Director, inaugurated and presided over the programme. Chemistry is one of the interesting subjects. It is intertwined with our lives. We use chemical products like diesel, petrol, kerosene, batteries, mobiles, hair oil, hair dye, soaps, dress materials, medicine, etc. all day. Chemistry is also very essential to our country. Many chemists donated a lot to our society, she said. 

Apart from that, chemistry-related competitions such as quizzes, chem go, chem grid, chem cinema, and chem group discussions were also held.

Three students of Chemistry (Ms. B.K. Sowmitha, second year B.Sc., Chemistry, Ms. R. Nishanthini, and Ms. C. Janthini, first year B.Sc., Chemistry) from Trinity College for Women recited the 118 elements of Chemistry in the events. All the audience members convey their greetings to them.
