On behalf of the Youth Red Cross, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal has organized a financial awareness literacy program titled “Overview of Taxation in India’ on February 26, 2024, on the college campus.

Dr. M. Sasikala, Assistant Professor and Head, Postgraduate and Research Department of Commerce, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, and Senate Member, Periyar University, Salem, was the resource person.

India has a well developed tax structure with clearly demarcated authority between the Central Government of India and state governments, as well as local bodies.  After the introduction of GST in India, the tax system was simply and easily framed, she said. Also, she elaborated on the tax systems like goods and services tax, income tax, sales tax, wealth tax, gift tax, property tax, professional tax, entertainment tax, value-added tax, and so on. Mrs. V. Kalaivani, YRC Program Officer, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, made arrangements.

More than 100 volunteers from the Youth Red Cross actively participated.
