Workshop on “Production strategies for manufacturing handloom saris”
The Department of Costume Design and Fashion, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, conducted a one-day workshop entitled ‘Production strategies for manufacturing handloom saris’ on October 27, 2023, in the laboratory of CDF.
Mr. P. Vasudevan, Director, TM/CH Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society, 4, Gandhiji Colony First Street, Gandhigram, Dindigul District, was the special invitee.
He explained the usage of various techniques of production of handloom saris in the surrounding areas of Chinnalapatti and Gandhigram, like Varanasi cotton sarees, Manipuri cotton sarees, Chettinad cotton sarees, Pattu cotton sarees, and Sumangali cotton sarees.
Mrs. K. Punitha, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of CDF, of the College, welcomed the gathering. The faculty of CDF, Mrs. A.P. Pavithra and Mrs. R. Shanmugapriya, offered their felicitation addresses.
Ms. K.P. Theepika, Assistant Professor in Costume Design and Fashion, proposed the vote of thanks. All the students in the CDF department actively took part.
