The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, in association with the Alumni Forum, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, conducted a one-day event entitled “Career Guidance Programme” on March 23, 2024, on the college campus. 

In this regard, Ms. K. Sanjana (B.Sc., Nut. & Diet., 2020-2023 Batch), Medical Coding Specialist, 3/113, Periyakalipalayam, Nerur North, Palaiyur Post, Gandhigramam, Karur spoke about the topic of “Overview of Medical Coding,” and Ms. A. Nandhini (B.Sc., Nut. & Diet., 2020-2023 Batch), Medical Coding Specialist, 10/16, Agraharam, Manappalli Post, Mohanur Taluk, Namakkal District delivered the topic of “Guidance Programme on Child Development Project Officer.” 

Ms. K. Sanjana explained the various medical coding schemes like introduction, eligibility norms, types of codes, CPT (current procedural terminology), HCPS (Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System), ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Division, and Clinical Modification), Medical Coding Certificates like PMI (Practice Management Institute), AHIMA (American Health Information Management), AAPC (Amenity Academy of Professional Coders), AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders), etc. 

Professional development Higher earning potential and industry recognition are the advantages of medical coding, she pointed out in that program. 

     Ms. A. Nandhini said, Children are the future of a nation. Still, many children have been affected due to poverty, disease, poor environmental sanitation, infection, the non-availability of primary health care, etc.

She also elucidated the various government schemes available for the benefit of children. 

Mrs. R. Rupa, Assistant Professor and Head, Ms. P. Sri Renugadevi, and Mrs. V. Sowmiya, Assistant Professors in Nutrition and Dietetics of the College, made arrangements.  All the students of Nutrition and Dietetics of the College benefited through this programme.
