GST Program for Commerce Students
The postgraduate research department of Commerce at Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, conducts a one-day workshop on “Goods and Services Tax: One Nation and One Tax” on March 13, 2024 (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. on the college campus. Mr. D. Senthilkumar, Senior Manager, Accounts, Thenpandiyan Group of Companies, Namakkal; Mrs. S. Renuka, Accounts Executive, Meena LPG Industries, Namakkal; and Mr. M. Sathish, Manager, Accounts, Thenpandian Spinning Mills (P) Ltd., Namakkal, are the resource persons.
The above-mentioned resource persons highlighted the input tax credit, the registration process, and the merits of the goods and services tax and how it has contributed to the generation of revenue in the country.
Also, they explained the introduction, overview, features, and structure of GST, business transactions and business segments, registration mechanism, invoicing, debit note, credit note, input tax credit, returns, electronic commerce, CGST (Central Goods and Services Tax), SGST (State Goods and Service Tax), impact of GST on India’s foreign trade, comparison of Indian GST, and other country models.

Ms. R.S. Durga, second-year M.Com. (2023-2024), pointed out that we gathered more information related to goods and services tax in India. We know that the GST is very essential for managers, finance executives, and accountants who are working in middle- and large-sized organizations. My future plan is to become a GST consultant. This workshop is very useful. I convey my gratitude to the management, principal, hod’s, and faculty members of Commerce for the arrangement of these programs.
