The NSS and YRC of our Trinity College for Women, Namakkal observed Ozone Day on 16th September 2019 In connection with the international day for preservation of ozone layer 2019 Celebrations. Mrs. M. Chitra, Assistant Professor in Chemistry of our College interacted with students and explained how depletion of ozone layer affects living beings and nature. Today, environmental degradation and climate change have disturbed the entire mankind. We save our environment for our future generations, she emphasized to the students. More than 300 students took part in that occasion.
Centenary Celebrations of YRC – 6.1.2020 to 8.1.2020
Owing to centenary celebrations of Indian Red Cross Society, our College Youth Red Cross organized the following events in our College premises from 6.1.2020 to 8.1.2020. Its includes, passport, PAN Card, voter ID, Driving License, Photo with with Bank ATM, marriage certificate with photograph, SC/ST/OBC certificates with photograph, bank pass book having photograph, SSLC/School Transfer Certificate containing name and photograph, certificate of identity containing name and photo issued by recognized educational institution, etc., they pointed out.

The aim was to educative youths about their lead to bring a healthful and ideal political system in the country and to make a iron in the fire for them to contribution their perception o contemporary socio- economic development through debate, conversation and discussion said Dr B Valluvan, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, (Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports), Government of India, Namakkal.
The College Principal Dr M.R. Lakshiminaayanan, who inaugurated the youth clubs to actively engage in national building and support the local communities solve the problems of development they are confronting.
Mr. P. Manikandan, Public Relation Officer of Nehru Yuvakendra, Namakkal indicated that India is one of the big democracy countries. The parliament of India is the supreme legislative body of the republic of India. There are two houses; one is Rajya Sabha and another one is Lok Sabha. Rajya Sabha is selected by the council of states. Lok Saba is selected by the members of Parliament – House of the people, he told. Total number of seats is 788 (245 Rajya Sabha Seats and the remaining 543 seats are members of Lok Sabha. 271 needed for majority to form a Government according to Indian Constitution Law, he pointed out.

Poshan Pakhwada – in Trinity College, Namakkal
As a part of celebration of the second anniversary of Poshan Abhiyan (Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India) on 8th March 2020, Poshan Pakhwada organized across the country. On this subject, Awareness campaign on promotion of “Healthy Food Habits” (Poshan Pakhwada) held on 11th March 2020 in the College Mini Seminar Hall. To mark this occasion, the NSS of our College carried out some health and nutrition related community based activity and conducted a seminar too.
Dr. M. Sasikala, NSS Programme Officer (Unit -1) welcomed the gathering. Mrs. R. Navamani, Assistant Professor in Computer Science/Senate Member of Periyar University gave an awareness speech regarding significance of healthy dietary habits for College girl students and avoidance of junk foods.
Dr. T.K. Anuradha, Assistant Professor and HOD of Tamil focused the advantages of healthy foods like small millet’s, wheat, ragi, healthy grains, dates, puttu, kozhukattai, vegetables, fruits, green leaves, yogurt, milk, cheese, eggs, avocados, blue berries and nuts.

1. Programme on Vigilant India, Prosperous India – (Satark Bharat, Samriddh Bharat- விழிப்பான இந்தியா – செழிப்பான இந்தியா)
On account of Vigilance Awareness Week, our College YRC, RRC and NSS jointly organized a one day webinar event entitled “Vigilant India, Prosperous India – (Satark Bharat, Samriddh Bharat- விழிப்பான இந்தியா – செழிப்பான இந்தியா) on 2nd November 2020.
On this subject, Dr. Ka. Palanivel, Assistant Professor, PG and Research Department of Tamil, Thiru. Kolinjiappar Government Arts College (Grade 1), Virudhachalam, Cuddalore District, Tamil Nadu state was the invited speaker. He spoke the weak spots of corruption in our Country. Corruption is a dominant hindrance in the growth of our nation. It wants to be uprooted entirely from our system for the sustainable development of our country. There is a necessity to bring transparency and clarity in public procurement and proper dealing of corruption prevailing in it. The future of our country that is students need to be sensitized about this core issue. We need corruption free India, he enunciated.

2. Observations of National Cancer Day at Trinity College for Women, Namakkal
The National Cancer Day was observed at Trinity College for Women, (Arts and Science), Namakkal, on Saturday (7th November 2020). This programme was organized by the Youth Red Cross, National Service Scheme, and Red Ribbon Club. It was held through the video conferencing of Google Meet.

Cancer is a group of diseases engaging abnormal cell growth with the potential to spread to other parts of the body. The symptoms of cancer include a lump, prolonged cough, abnormal bleeding, unexplained weight loss and a change in bowel movements; these are symptoms that may indicate cancer. Over 100 kinds of cancers affect our humans. This Cancer decease can be decreased by maintaining a healthy weight, eating more vegetables, fruits and whole grains, limiting consumption of meat foods, vaccination against certain infectious diseases, limiting exposure to sunlight, avoiding alcohol, non-smoking of cigarettes, etc., she indicated.
She appealed and invoked the students to keep away from having fast and junk food to lead an alive and kicking and disease – free life. Apart from that, she also appealed to them to keep the surroundings, neighboring and environments clean.

3. Webinar on ““Scheme, Plans and Strategy for encouragement of women by the agency of social welfare department
The Social Welfare and Nutritious Meal Programme department, Government of Tamil Nadu under the guidance of the honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu are ensured the various welfare schemes for the benefit of poor, women, senior citizens, children and third genders.
In this regard, Youth Red cross, The Cell of National Service Scheme and Red Ribbon Club of Trinity College for Women (Arts and Science), Namakkal, Tamil Nadu state jointly conducted a one day webinar event entitled “Scheme, Plans and Strategy for encouragement of women by the agency of social welfare department” on 25.11.2020 @ 11.45 PM.
Mrs. P.K. Geetha, District Social Welfare Officer, Office of District Social Welfare and Nutrition, 2nd Floor, Namakkal District Collector Office campus, Tiruchengode Road, Nallipalayam, Namakkal – 637 003 was the resource person. She indicated the various schemes available for the benefit of women like Chief Minister’s Girl Child Protection Scheme, Cradle Baby Scheme and Puratchi Thalaivar MGR Nutritious Meal Programme. National Constitution Day was celebrated at Trinity College for Women, Namakkal on 26th November 2020 in coordination with the units of National Service Scheme, Youth Red Cross and Red Ribbon Club. This event was held through the Video Conferencing of Google Meet.

Dr. M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal of the College explained in detail about the history of constitution, need for the constitution, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s contribution to the Making of Indian Constitution, people behind the constitution of India, role of judiciary in constitution, basic rights and responsibilities of Indian citizens according to our constitution, procedure for amending constitution, and challenges of constitution of India and preamble of constitution.
Dr. Arasuparameswaran, Director – Academic readout the preamble and gave an explanation of the history and story behind it. This programme ended with an interactive session.

YRC ACTIVITIES FOR THE MONTH OF OCTOBER 2020
1. Webinar Programme on “Fire Safety Awareness
With an aim to create awareness about fire safety and the utilization of fire extinguishing equipment, a Fire Safety Awareness Programme was conducted at Trinity College for Women, Namakkal on 12th October 2020. This programme was conducted by Youth Red Cross of the College. It was held through the video conferencing of Google Meet. The programme aimed at making the students of the College mindful about fire hazards and the protection measures which can be taken during a fire emergency.
Dr. N. Elamathi, Co-ordinator, Research and Development, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal was the resource person. She highlighted the significance of fire extinguishers and other fire prevention equipment. Teach children safe keeping rules for fires, stoves, electrical outlets, matches, electrical cords, electrical outlets and chemicals, keep matches and flames, just like candles or lanterns, out of the reach of children, she insisted. Buy children’s sleepwear made of flame-retardant fabric, dress children in flame- and fire-retardant clothing and older adults’ essentiality to be careful about wearing clothing with loose material that could catch on fire, she reiterated.

2. Webinar Programme on “Why first aid training is the Need of the hour?
The Youth Red Cross of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal organized a one day webinar event in the title of “Why first aid training is the Need of the hour? On 24th October 2020. Mr. P.K. Sengodan, Chairman presided over the programme. Er.K. Nallusamy, Secretary of the College offered the felicitation address. Dr. M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal welcomed the gathering. Dr. R. Anandaraman, Assistant Professor, PG and Research Department of Commerce, Dr. R.K. Shanmugam College of Arts and Science, Indili, Kallakurichi, Tamil Nadu was the resource person of that webinar.
Day to day thousands of people get killed on roads or industries or at homes or workplaces or they distress serious bodily harm, off and on leading to a permanent disability for want of timely and immediate medical care. Especially, more workers are doing their jobs in big industries. First Aid is very essential for these people who are suffering an unexpected accident. Safety pain, scissors, tweezers, bandages, sterile eye dressing and sterile gauze dressing, plasters, safety pins, disposable gloves, alcohol free cleaning wipes, sticky tape, thermometer, cream, antiseptic cream, painkiller tablets, distilled water, eye wash and eye bath are very important for first aid, he emphasized.

3. Webinar Programme on “History, Principles and Activities of YRC
The Youth Red Cross of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal organized a one day webinar programme entitled “History, Principles and Activities of YRC” on 27th October 2020 from 10.30 AM to 12 Noon. On this subject, Dr. E.G. Wesely Jebasingh Devairakkam, HOD, PG and Research Department of Botany & YRC Programme Officer, Aringnar Anna Government Arts College, Namakkal, Tamil Nadu was the invited speaker.
He explained the history, concept, fundamentals, activities and operations of Youth Red Cross. The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) was started in 1920 governed by the Indian Red Cross Society Act which works as an auxiliary to the state to execute humanitarian activities. It also provides and contributes a range of services, including Health welfare, Social Welfare Programmes and Disaster Relief in the country. Youth Red Cross is the most important and powerful constituent of its mother organization, The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS). It was in December, 2011 that the State Government directed all higher Educational Institutions like Colleges and Technical Education Institutions to open Youth Red Cross (YRC) units. This group movement initiated with the aim of helping students to take care their own health and that of others, helping them to understand and accept civic responsibility, help in maintaining spirit of friendliness and helpfulness with others and dissemination of Red Cross Movement with regard to understand the real implications and effects of Red Cross activities on student community, he explicated. He highlighted the fundamental principles of YRC like humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntarily, service, unity and universality.

Awareness Programme on Prevention of HIV/AIDS
Awareness Programme on Prevention of HIV/AIDS was organized by Youth Red Cross, Red Ribbon Club and National Service Scheme of Trinity College for Women, (Arts and Science), Namakkal on 30.11.2020. In consequence of World AIDS Day (01.12.2020) this programme was held. The welcome speech was given by Dr. M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal of the College. Thereafter, Dr. Arasuparameswaran, Director – Academic introduced the chief guest.
The Chief Guest Mr. M. Thirunvukkarasu, District Programme Manager I/c, District AIDS Prevention & Control Unit, Namakkal Collectorate Annexure Building, Tiruchengode Road, Nallipalayam, Namakkal – 637 003 was spoke on the topic of “Celebrating Life”. He has delivered a lecture among the students and made them aware of HIV/AIDS issues and also shared the concept of YRC, RRC and NSS. To avoid smoking of cigarettes, to evade from drinking alcohol and drugs, think good thoughts, get regular exercises including Yoga and Meditation, keep away from overdose news from Medias, sleep 7 to 8 hours a night, eat healthy food and smiling face are the important for our cheerful life, he quoted in his speech.

Giving blood for safety society” (குருதி தந்து குவலயம் காப்போம்)
Human blood is an important element of human life and there are no substitutes to blood as so far. Blood can save millions of lives. On this subject, our College Youth Red Cross has organized a one day webinar event entitled “Giving blood for safety society” (குருதி தந்து குவலயம் காப்போம்) on 11.02.2021.
Dr A Anbumalar, MBBS., DCP, District Blood Transfusion Officer, Namakkal district was the invited speaker.
Chief Guest Dr A Anbumalar, in her address, briefed the students on the significance of blood donation. He also highlighted the several groups of blood and how to ascertain in them. A normal health person over and above the age of 18 and less 65 can donate blood. Men can contribute blood once in 3 months and women, once in 4 months. Accordingly, any person in good physical condition can donate blood. It can recover the blood within a short span of time. Donating blood also aids in discharging cholesterol stored in the heart and helps build immunity in the body, she emphasized the importance of blood donation.
Dr M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, in his Principal address, highlighted the significance of donating blood to a needy patient. The intention of donating blood is to save one’s life and it should be voluntary and honorary donation.
Dr Arasuparameswaran, Director – Academic introduced the chief guest. He focused the importance of blood donation for safeguarding society. Dr R Savithri, YRC Programme Officer of the College welcomed the gathering. Mr. N.S. Senthilkumar RRC Programme Officer proposed the vote of thanks.

As the Tamil Nadu state Assembly elections (06th April 2021) are nearing, YRC of Trinity College for Women (Arts and Science), Namakkal organized an awareness rally on the importance and rights of voting to the students of the College. This event was held on 17th March 2021. More than 100 students participated in the rally at the college campus. The welcome Address was given by Dr R. Savithri, YRC Programme Officer and the rally was inaugurated by Dr. M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal of the College.
Dr. Arasuparameswaran, Director – Academic has focused the importance of voting rights for our nation’s good democracy. Refreshments were provided to all the participants. More than 100 YRC volunteers actively took part in the rally by raising slogans on the rights and importance of casting individuals to vote for choosing their representatives. Mr. N.S. Senthilkumar, Administrative Officer, The Coordinator of Electoral Literacy Club – Dr R.A. Anitha and The NSS Programme Officers Dr M. Sasikala and Mrs. S. Jayamathi were also present.
World Earth Day
The Youth Red Cross Unit of Trinity College for Women, (Arts and Science), Namakkal organized a webinar on the occasion of World Earth Day on 22nd April 2021 from 3 pm to 4 pm with resource speaker Dr. G. Prabakaran, Guest Faculty, Department of Sociology and Population Studies, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.
Trees play a major role in our day to day life. Plantations of trees are foremost as they improve the life and fulfil necessary needs of mankind. Trees are very main elements of the natural environment. Trees avert air pollution. Trees conserve our soil. Without trees, the land becomes a desert. Cutting of trees has added much to the deterioration of the environment. We must give importance to the plantation of trees for safeguarding our environment, he indicated.

Leading role of Ayurveda in prevention of COVID 19 Pandemic
Webinar on “Leading role of Ayurveda in prevention of COVID 19 Pandemic:-
The National Service Scheme, Red Ribbon Club and Youth Red Cross Society in collaboration with department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Trinity College for Women (Arts and Science), Namakkal organized a one day webinar entitled “Leading role of Ayurveda in prevention of COVID 19 Pandemic” (கொரோனா வைரஸ் பரவல் தடுப்பில் மிக முக்கிய பங்காற்றும் ஆயுர்வேத மருத்துவம்) on 29th May 2021.
It was held through the platform of google meet. Dr. N. Arunkumar, Ayurveda Physician, Ayurveda Medical Officer, Government Primary Health Centre, Pudhuchathram, Namakkal district was the invited speaker.
As we all know about the coronavirus, it is a global epidemic. People are in a panic. Schools, Colleges and Universities are locked. Roads are closed. Towns and Cities are protected and everybody has to sit in their house with their family members. So, this is a very crucial time, he spoke.
Use of 4 Ayurveda medicines – Ayuth Kwatha, Sanshamnivati, Fifatrol Tablets and Laxmi Vilasa Rasa are much benefitted for patients of coronavirus, he intimated.
Besides that, he gave some tips for prevention of COVID 19
· Mix up a pinch of turmeric and salt in hot water with Yashtimadhu (Licorice) and Triphala; use this concoction to gargle once or twice every day.
· Apply coconut oil, sesame oil, cow’s ghee or medicated oils in our nostrils, particularly before going out and after coming back home.
· Add on carom seeds, mint leaves or eucalyptus oil to water and do steam inhalation everyday using this concoction.
· Chewing clove at regular intervals.
· To drink more water frequently
· Get 6 to 8 hours of sleep every night; do moderate exercises daily and follow a healthy and balanced diet. Add herbs and spices like ginger, cumin, coriander and holy basil in our diet.

1. YRC – Webinar on “Best Food for Prevention of CoronaVirus
The Youth Red Cross in association with department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Trinity College forWomen (Arts and Science), Namakkal organized a one day webinar event in the title of “Best food for prevention of Corona Virus” on 3rd May 2021. In this programme held through the platform of Google Meet.
Mrs. R. Rupa, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Trinity College for Women, (Arts and Science) Namakkal was the resource person. COVID 19 was declared as a worldwide pandemic by WHO (World Health Organization). Eating of healthy food plays a key aspect in determining our overall health and immunity. Healthy foods of citrus fruits, red bell peppers, broccoli, garlic, ginger spinach, yogurts, almonds, sunflower seeds, turmeric, green tea, papaya, kiwi, poultry and shellfish are giving us immunity power to our body, she said. Dr. R. Savithri, YRC Programme Officer delivered the welcome address. Dr. J. Barathi, Assistant Professor in Tamil proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. P.K. Sengodan, Chairman, Er. K. Nallusamy, Secretary, Dr M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal and Dr. Arasuparameswaran, Director – Academic conveyed their greetings to all the participants. More or less 100 students have benefitted in that programme.
2. Online Programme on “Psychological impact of COVID 19
· The Youth Red Cross of Trinity College for Women organized a webinar event in the title of “Psychological impact of COVID -19” on 6th May 2021. It was held through the video conferencing of Google Meet.
Dr. M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal, Trinity College for Women (Arts and Science), Namakkal was the resource person. Corona disease itself multiplied by forced quarantine to combat COVID 19 applied worldwide lockdowns can produce more stress, acute panic, hoarding paranoia, depression, obsessive behaviours and post traumatic disorder in the long run. However, we prevent this coronavirus.
He gave the various tips such as
– We have to go out for work need to wear an N95 mask and a surgical mask over it
– Sanitize our hands when we touch a high contact surface
– Wash our clothes and disinfect anything we were weaving when we went out
– Go out only when absolutely necessary
– Educate our children because the new COVID 19 infects children
– Get vaccinated as soon as we can.
Mrs. K. Mekala, Assistant Professor in Computer Science welcomed the gathering. This event was compiled by Dr. R. Savithri, YRC Programme Officer. Mr. P.K. Sengodan, Chairman, Er. K. Nallusamy, Secretary, Dr. Arasuparameswaran, Director – Academic and Dr. G. Selvalakshmi, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Commerce communicated their greetings to all the participants. Dr. R. Malarvizhi, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Mathematics proposed the vote of thanks. More than 90 YRC volunteers attended that webinar event.
3. Celebration of International Red Cross Day
· Because of International Red Cross Day, our CollegeYouth Red Cross conducted a one day webinar on 8th May 2021. For the past 14 months, we have been fighting the battle against COVID 19. On this subject, Dr. R. Savithri, YRC Programme Officer spoke on the topic of “Awareness Programme – Coronavirus second wave – Hints to boost our immune system”.
She contributed the following guidance for prevention of the second wave of Covid 19.
– Clean our hands often (use soap, sanitizer and water)
– Wear a mask
– Maintain a safe distance
– If we have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, we checkup our body in recognized COVID 19 hospitals.

The word CORONA is well known to the people all throughout the world. By dint of Corona, plenty of negative impact on human beings and also different types of industries and business sectors also affected very badly. The IT industry is one of the sectors which are disturbed due to the menacing corona. 1.5 lakh employees in India’s IT industry might lose their jobs during the period of Corona. A lot of IT companies are forced to ask their staff members to work from residence keeping in account of the public health concerns. But for all that after the completion and cure of Coronavirus, all the IT industries will grow in all aspects, he hoped.

Observation of World Suicide Prevention Day “ Suicide is not an option“ (தற்கொலை என்பது நாம் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கும் முடிவல்ல)
· Owing to Observation of World Suicide Prevention Day (10.09.2021), The Youth Red Cross, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal organized a webinar event in the title of “ Suicide is not an option“ (தற்கொலை என்பது நாம் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கும் முடிவல்ல) on 10th September 2021.
It was held through the Google Meet. In this regard, Dr A Latha, Assistant Professor in Tamil, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal was the resource person. Suicide is one of the common deaths around the world. More than 7 lakhs people die by suicide every year in global level. The reasons and effects of suicide are depression, the past meaning our life before and feeling lonely, she said. Suicides are preventive. Stand up, face the new day, be bold, she quoted the importance of audacity.
Event of Tree Plantation
A tree plantation event was organized on the premises of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal on 17th September 2021.

The Secretary Er. K. Nallusamy said that the plants are contributing to the environment in great water. They give us oxygen, improve air quality, support wildlife, preserve soil and conserve water, he denoted. This event was organized by the Youth Red Cross of the college. Swachh Bharat Campus Cleaning Activity:-
A campus cleaning programme was conducted by the Youth Red Cross wing of Trinity College for Women on 18th September 2021. The volunteers of YRC cleaned the entire campus wearing masks and collected all the litter in big bags for disposal.
Refreshments were distributed to volunteers. Dr. R. Savithri, YRC Programme Officer & Mrs. V. Archana, Directress of Physical Education carried out all the arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Swachh Bharat event.
“We must protect our mother’s nature” on 27.09.2021 (Monday)
On account of World Environment Day (26.09.2021), The YRC Cell of our College organized an offline event in the title of Event on “We must protect our mother’s nature” on 27.09.2021 (Monday). This programme was held in the premises of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal. In this regard, Dr. B. Lakshmi, Assistant Professor and Head, Post Graduate Department of Physics, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal was the resource person. Atpresent, our society is facing a lot of problems related to the environment. Moreover, now, students are more connected to people all over the world because of information technology but less connected to near and dear ones and nature. We should safeguard our environment because of peaceful life, she said.
“Keep our Heart Health”
Owing to observation of world heart day (29.09.2021), The Youth Red Cross of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal conducted a programme entitled “Keep our Heart Health” on 29th September 2021 @ 2.30 PM.
Dr N. Santhi, Assistant Professor and Head, Post Graduate Department of Chemistry, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal was the invited speaker. Our present generations have been affected due to cholesterol, eye problems, knee pain, asthma, blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, etc., especially, heart disease. A healthy heart is central to overall good health. We must give importance to our heart health, she denoted.
“First Aid Saves Life”
Because of world first aid day (14.09.2021), The YRC Cell of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal organized a one day event. Mrs. V. Archana, Directress of Physical Education, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal delivered in the the topic of “First Aid Saves Life”. This event was held in the mini seminar hall.
She gave some important first aid tips because of burns, sprains, food poisoning, nose bleeds, pulled muscles, dizziness, vertigo, insect bites & stings.

The birth anniversary of father of Indian nation Mahatma Gandhi (02nd October), this day is celebrated as an international day of non-violence. On account of international day of non-violence (02.10.2021), our College volunteers of YRC took a non-violence pledge on the day of 1st October 2021.
The Principal Dr M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, stressed the need to “usher in a new era of peace and tolerance”. Every citizen of India should follow the words of Gandhiji, he insisted.

Observation of World Tsunami Awareness Day – 05.11.2021
The Youth Red Cross of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal conducted an online event in the heading of “Lessons learned from the Tsunami disaster” on 5th November 2021. Owing to observance of World Tsunami Awareness Day, this programme was held. Dr. S. Anidha, Assistant Professor in Chemistry, Trinity College for Women was the special guest.
26th December 2004, we did not forget on that day. Many fishermen, tourists, and common people were seeing the beach/doing works of oceans. About nearly 2.50 lakh people had been killed along the coasts of 14 countries in the Indian Ocean. Citizens of about 60 countries lost their lives. It is one of the worst disasters on a global level. Various countries from around the world donated major funding to tsunami research and installed hundreds of new modern technical instruments. Warning systems and hazard mitigation systems have dramatically improved. Apart from that, the Tsunami observational network of coastal tide gauges has been significantly reconstructed, upgraded and expanded. However, safeguard is very important, she spoke.

Programme on Roles and Responsibilities of YRC
· The Youth Red Cross of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal conducted an “YRC-Orientation Programme” in the title of “Roles and Responsibilities of YRC volunteers” on 23rd September 2021. This programme was held in the venue of a mini seminar hall.
Dr. N . Elamathi, Former YRC Programme Officer/ IQAC Coordinator, /Assistant Professor & Head, Post Graduate and Research Department of Computer Science, Trinity College for Women (Arts and Science) was the invited speaker. YRC functions with the one and only aim of serving people in distress without any considerations of caste, religion, language and nationality, she said. Beside that she explained the six fundamentals of principles of the Red Cross like humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service and utility.

National Science Day Celebration – 15.10.2021 – Birth anniversary of Dr Abdul Kalam
The Youth Red Cross of Trinity College celebrated national science day on 15th October 2021. This online event was held through the platform of Google Meet.
Dr R Sathiyapriya, Assistant Professor in Physics, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal spoke on the topic of “Science and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam” (அறிவியலும், அப்துல் கலாமும்).

Thamaraiselvi, Assistant Professor in Food Processing Technology, PSG College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Coimbatore was the resource person. Wasting food is a crime against humanity. Wasting food is not good for anyone in any way. It is harmful to the economy. Food wastage is morally wrong because these are many people who are hungry or dying. So please don’t waste food, she said.

Disability is not inability
On account of Observation of World Disabled Day, the YRC (Youth Red Cross) of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal organized a seminar entitled “Disability is not inability” (உடல் குறை பாடு என்பது பலவீனமல்ல) on 2nd December 2021.
Dr. G. Selvalakshmi, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of PG & Research Commerce, Trinity College for Women was the resource person. Millions of people worldwide suffer from mental health conditions and an estimated one in four people globally will experience a mental health condition in their lifetime, she stated. All human beings have something special. We must help especially for disabled persons. People with disabilities focus on their strength, they are multi-talented, she added.

It is transmitted to humans by the bite of infected vector mosquitoes. It is a parasitic disease, she said. Also, she explained the kinds of filariasis diseases such as lymphatic filariasis, subcutaneous filariasis, serous cavity filariasis and zoonotic filariasis.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan – Clean India event held on 27th December 2021. It was conducted by the Youth Red Cross of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal. Dr. P. Saranya, Assistant Professor and Head of UG Mathematics, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal delivered in the topic of “Clean India – Green India – (தூய்மை இந்தியா – பசுமை இந்தியா). Cleanliness not only improves the standard of living of people but it also gives a very positive image about our country to the tourists that visit our country, she stated.

Observation of World Bareilly Day – (04.01.22) “Outline of Bareilly education system”
International Bareilly Day celebrated in the premises of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal on 04th January 2022 in honor of Louis Bareilly. This event was conducted by the Youth Red Cross of the College. Mrs. S. Usharani, Assistant Professor in Computer Science of the College was the special invitee and she delivered on the topic of “Outline of Bareilly education system” on 04.01.2022. She spoke about the history of Louis Bareilly. Louis Bareilly invented the Braille system to enable visually impaired people to read and write. Every 4th January, international Braille Day is celebrated, to recognize his contribution in helping visually impaired people to remain part of mainstream society by reading and writing as a normal person, she said. Nearly 200 volunteers of YRC took part.

The volunteers of YRC observed this day was to create awareness about mental health and suicide prevention. Mrs. G. Sathiyasangari, Assistant Professor in Commerce, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal spoke in the title of “Indulge in positive thoughts – How it helps our mental health?”. Positive thinking is the practice of focusing on the good in any situation. It can have a big impact on our physical and mental health, she said.

They spoke on the significance of early diagnosis in breast cancer. In India, the incidence of cancer is rising rapidly. For that reason, it is needed to strengthen cancer literacy and knowledge amidst the population. Breast cancer is vastly increasing amongst women in urban areas and it is the most common cancer in India, they pointed out.

By reason of observation of world diabetes day, the Youth Red Cross of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal executed an online event in the title of “Diabetes Free Life”( நீரிழிவு இல்லாத வாழ்க்கை) on 14th November 2021. Mrs. M. Rajapadmavathi, Assistant Professor in Commerce, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal was the resource person.
Diabetes is a disease that occurs when our blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high. There are two types of diabetes. Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1, it can appear at any age. Type 1 diabetes patients need to take insulin every day to stay alive. Type 2 diabetes, impairment in the way the body regulates and uses sugar (glucoses) as a fuel. Although diabetes has no cure, we can take steps to manage our diabetes and stay healthy. Because high blood glucose creates many problems for sugar patients such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, eye problems, dental diseases, nerve damage and foot problem, she denoted.
More or less 100 students took part in that video conferencing of Google Meet.

She described the various soft skills strategies like communication skills, test of reasoning, interview skills, self confidence, stress management, time management, personality development, creativity, presentation skills, soft skills, life skills, etc.,

COVID 19 – Awareness Programme – Lessons from COVID- 19 (கொரோனா நமக்கு கற்றுத்தரும் –பாடங்கள்😉
· The Youth Red Cross of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal conducted ‘COVID 19 Awareness Programme titled “Lessons from COVID 19 (கொரோனா நமக்கு கற்றுத்தரும் –பாடங்கள்) on 20th December 2021. Dr. R. Malarvizhi, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of PG Mathematics, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal was the invited speaker. The pandemic COVID – 19 has greatly disrupted normal life and business. Corona virus has affected day to day life and is slowing down the global economy. The pandemic has highly disturbed thousands of people, who are either sick or are being killed due to the spread of this disease. Life is not permanent, she denoted.
Social distance, wearing masks, corona vaccination and continuous washing hands are very important in our day to day life, she insisted. Dr. R. By reason of observation of National Pulse Polio Day, the Youth Red Cross of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal organized a seminar entitled “2 Polio Drops of Life – (வாழ்க்கைக்கான 2 சொட்டு போலியோ மருந்து) on 10th December 2021. Dr. M. Sasikala, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of B.Com., & B.Com., CA, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal was the invited speaker. Polio is an infectious disease caused by a virus. This disease affects children under the age of 5. At present, because of the development of medical and quality of polio vaccine, maximum numbers of children are not influenced by Polio, she indicated.

The Youth Red Cross of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal observed “Zero tolerance to female genital mutilation day” (6th February) on 5.02.02022. It was held in the College premises. Mrs. S. Bharathi, Assistant Professor in English, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal delivered in the topic of “ “Psychological Effects of Female Genital Mutilation” on 05th February 2022. Dr. R. Female genital mutilations disturb women’s mental health and safety long after the procedure, into her adult life women with FGM (Female Genital Mutilation). It often show signs of psychological trauma and stress like anxiety, somatization, depression, post traumatize stress and other mood disorderliness.

YRC orientation programme on Entrepreneurship
On behalf of Youth Red Cross of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, YRC orientation programme was held on 12th February 2022 in the College campus. Mr. K Nallusamy, Managing Director of Thenpandian Group of Companies, Namakkal was the special invitee. He talked about the topic of “Be a job creator, not a job seeker”. Majority of people in India will remain job seekers. At present, our country needs a job creator instead of an employee. Our Government of India and Government of Tamil Nadu are giving more financial assistance for entrepreneurs, especially for women, he said.

The Youth Red Cross of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal organized a webinar event in the title of “Role of social media in a student’s life” on 24.02.2022. Dr. K. Vijayakumari, Assistant Professor in Computer Science, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal was the resource person. The digital and electronic age has led to the growth of social media among people. With the quarantine time, social media of Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp, Instagram, QQ, TikTok, etc., have acquired traction among all the people including students. With the replacement of brick and mortar system of education with online classes, social media has become a vital role, she said. The role of social media in this century has made students life very easy and convenient. However, some drawbacks are available in the social Medias. We should use the social Medias only for our development, she denoted.

We have to maintain the garden through regular activities like watering, thinning, weeding, mulching, composting and monitoring for pests. The YRC volunteers of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal have been preserved the College Garden on 17th February 2022.

She was born to an upper English family. However, she dedicated her life to the hospital. As a nurse of the hospital, she implemented various action plans to improve sanitary conditions and made nothing, hand washing and other principles of asepsis, she denoted. Trinity College for Women, Namakkal – the Youth Red Cross has organized a one day disaster management training programme on 26.05.2022. Mrs. S. Sreevidhya, Assistant Professor in English, Trinity College for Women presented the topic of “The Effect of global warming on natural disasters”. Global warming is one of the natural disasters. The biggest causes of global warming are electricity wastage, plastic usages, factories, deforestation, etc., We must save our environment by planting more trees, it will contribute to global reforestation efforts, she said.

The Youth Red Cross of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal organized a financial literacy programme on 27.05.2022. Dr. M. Sasikala, Assistant Professor & Head of Commerce & Commerce Computer Application was the resource person. She spoke on the topic of “Impact of GST on the Indian Economy”. GST aimed at reducing corruption and sales without receipts. It promotes online and digital payment. After the implementation of GST, our Indian economy has gradually developed, she said. Also, she described the Indian GST tax rate system of 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%. More than 120 volunteers of the Youth Red Cross attended that programme.
